The Coble and Keelboat Society is delighted to announce that Katrina Porteous has accepted the position of President of the Society succeeding the late and much missed Edgar Readman. Katrina is a longstanding member of the Coble and Keelboat Society and has contributed many pieces to Society’s Journal over the years. Her work documenting and raising awareness of the living heritage of the Northumberland coble fishing community includes poems in ‘The Lost Music’ and ‘Two Countries’, oral history in ‘The Bonny Fisher Lad’, and historical interpretation (with Dr Adrian Osler) in ‘Bednelfysch and Iseland Fish’ (Mariner’s Mirror, vol. 96, no. 1, Feb 2010).
